Neon Genesis Evangeli-Graph

created by Claude 🧡 prompted by Grant Klassy

A three-dimensional reading of the evangelion canon centered on Shinji Ikari: ten CHARACTERS, eighteen ANGELS in canonical order, and the three Magi bound as one. The spoiler gate masks anything past your watch progress --- adjust it from the spoilers pill in the corner. Scroll down to enter the graph.

Characters

Cast nodes. Each character maps to a single genesis shortcode and renders in that shortcode's primary color. The full Shinji Ikari / Ritsuko Akagi labels resolve as one shortcode now (the character's own); the standalone family-name aliases like Ikari and Akagi still tint body copy AND now anchor real family nodes below. Spoiler-tagged characters keep their late-show identities gated for now.

Angels (1 -- 18, canonical order)

The 18 canonical angels of the TV series, numbered as Adam = 1 through Lilim = 18. Spoiler-flagged entries keep their cross-character connections locked until the spoiler gate is unlocked.

Magi system (3-in-1)

The three Magi share one color and one tight spring in the layout --- a visual rendering of the show's "three personalities, one machine" gag. Casper, Melchior, and Balthasar carry Naoko Akagi's woman, scientist, and mother fragments respectively.

EVA Units

The mecha. Each unit pairs with its pilot via a pilots edge in the graph; later units carry the same spoiler gate as the show's reveals.

Families

Lineage roll-up nodes. Every family paints in the same uniform family color --- families don't inherit a per-shortcode hue, the visual punchline is "this is a family, not a person." Each family's displayName carries the (Family) suffix so the 3D label is unmistakable, and member_of_family edges connect each character to their family.

Organizations

Locations

Concepts

Abstract / in-universe concept nodes. AT Field, LCL, and Third Impact are first-class nodes now --- promoted out of registry-only entries so they can carry edges as the investigation grows. Third Impact stays gated to End of Evangelion.

Events

The flashpoints. First Impact formed the Moon and stranded Adam's vessel; Second Impact blew open Antarctica when the Katsuragi Expedition made contact with Adam in 2000. Backstory in the early run, cause-and-effect spelled out in the Ep. 21 director's-cut drop.

Genesis Mapping

The shortcode registry. 94 entries spanning CHARACTERS, ANGELS, MAGI, EVA, ORGANIZATIONS, and CONCEPTS. Each shortcode has aliases that the page-wide highlighter resolves on sight: any text matching "Shinji", "Ikari", or "Third Child" paints in the matching color. Reference colors as var(--genesis-asuka-primary) or import genesis from src/genesis.
